Dost mine eyes deceive me?

It seems as though there is in fact a working, stable, usable free software Video Editor for Linux that somehow went under my radar until now. It’s called Openshot and it supposedly even works with AVCHD. We will be investigating this. My reasons for using a Mac are dwindling.
