My current occupation is working for JET as an ALT. Those initials stand for Japanese Exchange Teaching, and Assistant Language Teacher. I’ve been placed in Hidaka village in Kochi prefecture on the island of Shikoku in Japan.
I’m a William and Mary alumnus, class of 2009. My major was Linguistics. My academic interests within linguistics are primarily language acquisition and language policy. I have since become interested more in language education, especially English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) and English as a foreign language (EFL).
For the Japanese Spring Semester (April through July 2008) I studied at Keio University in Tokyo. I learned Japanese almost exclusively. The only non-Japanese language course that I took was an ethnomusicology course about Asian music.
I’m an interest/hobby chameleon but I do have a few of my own sincere interests: stories, acoustic guitar/music, film & anime, art, and mountains.
Mark! I found you! Mwahaha! It’s Glinara! Haven’t talked to you in a while, so checking up on you. Welcome back to America! Hope all is well and chat with you soon!
