Sale vs License of Digital Information
I’ve been thinking about this issue ever since I first heard about Amazon remotely pulling already paid for copies of 1984 e-books from user’s Kindles. The issue resurfaced when Amazon remotely deleted another lady’s entire collection of paid for books.

Create Significance
I have been realizing lately, that in a world-view without inherent meaning, where the rituals and ceremonies of religion and the imposed goals and stereotypes of value in life are irrelevant, that we must create significance for ourselves, or not.

Free culture, yes or no?
I love free culture. Free is an ambiguous word in English in a way that it isn’t ambiguous in many other languages. Our word “free” encompasses the meanings of freedom, rights, and a price tag of $0.00. Some people in the free culture movement like to distinguish these two meanings, but I see no problem in conflating them. Continue reading

In the year 2125 I will be 139 years old but I will appear to be in my late sixties or early seventies because of advancements in medicine, especially facing the negative impact of aging. I will have had several successful tumor removals and been treated for heart-disease. I will have had several joint replacements and a few outdated prostheses to solve my degenerating vision and hearing, but overall I’ll be looking forward to my 140th birthday. Continue reading
